Ronald Aycock, Executive Director <br />DATE: April 24, 1992 <br />There are several items related to the NCACC Annual Conference in Charlotte on August 13-16 which need <br />your immediate attention. Registration and program information on the conference will be mailed out in <br />mid-May. <br /> <br /> PROPOSED RESQLIJTIONS <br /> <br />Association President W. C. "Bill" Owens, Jr., has asked that resolutions to be considered at Annual Con- <br />ference be submitted to the Association office no later than Friday, July 17, 1992. This date will enable us <br />to publish proposed resolutions in CountvLines orior to the beginning of our Conference. <br />The roles governing the resolutions process are set forth in Article VII, Section 1, of the Association Constitu- <br />tion, which reads as follows: <br />SECTION 1: Submission of Resolutlons to Resolutlons Committee. A resolution ~ be s~bmittedfor <br />consideration by the Resolutions Committee at the Annual Meeting of the Association in one of the following <br />ways: <br /> <br />' l. By official action of a member board of county commissioners; <br />2. By official action of a standing or special committee of the Association; <br />3. By official action of an affiliate organization of the Association; <br />4. By motion of a member of the Resolutions Committee. <br /> <br />The Board of Directors will meet as the Resolutions Committee during the Annual Conference on the follow- <br />ing dates: <br /> <br />Thursday, August 13 10:00 a.m., Adam's Mark Hotel <br />Friday, August 14---- 3:30 p.m., Adam's Mark Hotel (ff needed) <br /> <br />PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTIONS <br />Due to the continued confusion created by having legislatively oriented resolutions considered at both th~ An- <br />nual Conference and at the Legislative Gbals Conference, the Board of Directors voted two years ago to <br />adopt a new policy conceming the handling of legislative resolutions proposed at Annual Conference. Thus, <br />any proposed resolutions with legislative impact Will be forwarded by the Board of Directors (acting as the <br />Re.solutions Committee) to an appropriate Association steering committee. The steering committee will be <br />directed to review the resolution and forward it.to the.Legislative Goals Commitee, which will meet during <br />the fail of 1992. The'Legislative Goals Committee will then recommend action on the goal to the Board of <br />Directors and then !o the Legislative Goals Conference, which will be held on Dec. 10-11 in Greensboro. At <br />that time all counties will be able to vote on the goals package. <br />The county or affiliate group proposing the legislative resolution will be notified at the Annual Conference <br />Business Session and afterward by letter which steering committee the resolution has been referred to for <br /> <br />-OVER- <br /> <br /> <br />
