Any owner of one or more pure-bred dogs or cats who can furnish <br /> proof of participation in at least three (3) nationally <br /> recognized conformation or obedience shows within the past twelve <br /> (12) months. The exemption only applies to dogs or cats in the <br /> owner's household of the same breed that were shown. Proof of <br /> participation must go beyond records showing a filing fee was <br /> paid and owner must validate actual showing of the animal. <br /> c. Any handicapped owner of a dog which is used for seeing or <br /> <br /> hearing purposes and is spayed or neutered, shall obtain a <br /> license free of charge. <br /> <br /> d. Any owner of a dog or dogs primarly used for hunting. <br /> <br /> e. Any breeder as defined in Article I, Section 4. <br /> <br /> (5) Any dog or cat owner sixty-two (62) years of age or older who owns a <br /> sterilized animal may receive their license free of charge. If their <br /> animal has not been spayed or neutered, they will be subject to the <br /> lower license fee set out in Article I, Section 5 (#2). <br /> <br />Section 6. Failure to have do~ license; penalt~ and seizure. <br /> <br /> (1) Penalty. If an owner has failed to secure a valid and current <br /> license for a dog, then the citation penalty shall be fifty dollars <br /> ($50.00). The citation shall state on its face that the Department <br /> has the authority to summarily seize the dog, if the citation is not <br /> paid within 20 days of the date of the issuance of the citation and <br /> if the owner has not obtained a current dog license within 20 days of <br /> the issuance of the citation, and that seizure of the dog could lead <br /> to the humane destruction of the dog. <br /> <br /> <br />
