(3) <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br />(2) The license fee for fertile dogs and cats shall be twenty dollars <br /> ($20.00) per year. The license fee for sterilized dogs and cats <br /> shall be five dollars ($5.00) per year. If a person who is not a <br /> resident of Cabarrus County on January 1, or any resident who becomes <br /> the owner of a dog or cat after April 15 purchases a license tag <br /> after April 15 for the remainder of that current license year, then <br /> the cost of that license tag shall be one-half (50%) of the cost of a <br /> license tag and shall apply whether the dog/puppy or cat/kitten is <br /> fertile or sterilized. <br /> It shall be unlawful for the owner of any dogs not to have the dogs <br /> wear the rabies vaccination tag issued to them by the veterinarian <br /> administering the rabies vaccine. Dogs or cats not wearing such tags <br /> and for which the owner cannot promptly display a valid rabies tag <br /> shall be impounded and shall be subject to a fifty dollar ($50.00) <br /> citation penalty. <br /> <br />The following classification of owners of dogs and cats shall be <br />exempt from paying the higher license fee for fertile dogs and cats. <br />These exempt persons shall be required to purchase a license for <br />their dog or cat but will pay only a fee of five ($5.00) dollars for <br />such license and will not be required to have the animal spayed/ <br />neutered: <br />a. Any owner of a dog or cat who can furnish a statement from a <br /> <br /> licensed veterinarian that the animal, due to health reasons, <br /> could not withstand spay/neuter surgery. <br /> <br /> <br />
