O. Box 707 Concord, NC 28025 Dear Mr. Witherspoon, Habitat for Humanity will be presenting a request to the Commissioners on Monday, June 15 to ask for your continued support of our program. I have enclosed an information sheet about Habitat to let you see, not only the excellent beginning we have made, but also the potential Habitat has for serving the people of our County. We appreciate the support the County has given us in the past that has allowed us to dump our building waste at no charge, and would certainly appreciate it if that could continue. More importantly, we would like for you to consider at this time waiving the water-tap fees for the Habitat development we are beginning in Kannapolis on Fisher Street. As you invest County funds in Habitat: 1) You put a halt in the cycle of poverty for Habitat children who grow up in the stability and responsibility of homeownershlp. 2) You foster a stable family environment for their educational and health benefits, potentially reducing the number of public assistance recipients. 3) You turn marginal land into attractive property, encouraging neighborhood improvement and ultimately raising the local tax base and standard of living. And 4) you provide Cabarrus County residents, who want a chance to make a meaningful contribution to their community, an opportunity to take a fulfilling, active role in a proven, successful program.
