(5) <br /> <br />Section 6. <br /> <br /> 7 <br />b. Any owner of one or more pure-bred dogs or cats who can furnish <br /> proof of participation in at least three (3) conformation or <br /> obedience shows within the twenty-four (24) months. The <br /> exemption only applies to dogs or cats in the owner's household <br /> of the same breed that were shown. <br />c. Any handicapped owner of a dog which is used for seeing or <br /> hearing purposes and is spayed or neutered, shall obtain a <br /> license free of charge. <br />d. Any owner of a dog or dogs primarly used for hunting. <br />e. Any breeder as defined in Article I, Section 4 (#4). <br />f. Any dog or cat under six (6) months of age. <br /> <br /> Any dog or cat owner sixty-two (62) years of age or older who owns a <br /> sterilized animal may receive their license free of charge. If their <br /> animal has not been spayed or neutered, they will be subject to the <br /> lower license fee set out in Article I, Section 5 (#2). <br /> <br /> Failure to have dos and cat license; penalty and seizure. <br /> <br /> Penalty. If an owner has failed to secure a valid and current <br /> license for a dog or cat, then the citation penalty shall be fifty <br /> dollars ($50.00). The citation shall state on its face that the <br /> Department has the authority to summarily seize the dog or cat, if <br /> the citation is not paid within 20 days of the date of the issuance <br /> of the citation and if the owner has not obtained a current dog or <br /> cat license within 20 days of the issuance of the citation, and that <br /> seizure of the dog or cat could lead to the humane destruction of the <br /> dog or cat. <br /> <br /> <br />
