This event has jointly been planned with the
Grande Finale of the Cabarrus Bicentennial at Village Park and
Bakers Creek Park. The Cabarrus Bicentennial Celebration will
start at 1:00 pm on September 12th. The Park Commission has
requested a representative from each of the following
organizations: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, Rowan County
Board of Commissioners, city of Kannapolis Council, Atlantic
American Properties, and North Carolina Department of Natural
Resources and Community Development. The Park Commission was also
informed that Lieutenant Governor Jim Gardner may be able to attend
this Grand Opening and Celebration.

In another agenda item, the Park Commission approved a Change
Order Request from Piedmont Asphalt Paving Company for $592.23.
This change order is to add paving on Goldston Street and extra
piping on West 8th Street to the Greenway Project. The final
contract amount to PAPCO is in the amount $38,778.63.

In another agenda item, the Park Commission reviewed the
approved Cabarrus-Rowan Park Commission FY 1992-93 Budget.
Cabarrus County and City of Kannapolis funded their full requested
amount in the Park Commission budget; however, Rowan County funded
$1,139.89 less than the $18,236.89 requested amount.
