FINAL REPORT OF THE <br />21st CENTURY COMMITFEE <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Administration and centralized services provided in a user-friendly "hub" <br />human service facility. <br />Other services, which can easily be decentralized would be offered in <br />dedicated space in the schools and senior centers as human services <br />satellites. <br /> <br />A Task Force composed of representatives from the School Board, County <br />Commission, the 21st Century Committee and human services staff be charged with <br />selecting the appropriate locations for the two initial satellite service sites and to <br />suggest an appropriate location for the "hub" facility. <br /> <br />Design a program of services to be offered at each of the two satellite sites with <br />a rationale based on community need and with a particular emphasis on preventive <br />services. Public, private and. volunteer sector services should be considered. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Finance Department employ the appropriate consultant or <br />consultants if needed to estimate the cost of developing a hub and school satellite <br />service sites. The Finance Department could then incorporate these estimates into <br />the county's capital improvements planning process. <br /> <br />The County Commission appoint a Human Services Planning Committee composed <br />of nine members for the purpose of overseeing the hub/service center planning <br />and implementation process. Additionally, this committee annually would prioritize <br />funding requests made to the County Commissioners for new or expanded services. <br /> <br />(Presented to Board of Commissioners on March 16, 1992) <br /> <br />April 6, 1992 - The Board of Commissioners asked Dr. Herb Smith to arrange a <br />presentation of the 21st Century Committee's final report to each human service <br />agency board and to each of the two school boards. <br /> <br /> <br />
