APPENDIX II

/L

METROLiNA STUDIOS
TRAFFIC IMPACT NC 200
September 9, 1992

The Metrolina Studio is expected to enploy approx~ately 1,000 employees
within one year of opening. Projections of up to 3,000 are expected at fur operation
when primary and secondary facil!tJes are completed. The impact on the adjacent
and surrounding road system will be significant,

The trips per employee to the site were estimated as, (i) total trips per
employee per weekday, (2) +.-rips at the a.m. peak hours (incoming), and (3) trips
at t!-~e p.m. peak hours (outgoing). Estimations were made for 500 - 3,000 employees
at intervals of 500 based on the average trip per employee, per day as well as a low
and high range. Justification of the fiY..dings are £ummarized in Tzd~le I.

There were originally two access points considered to serve the site. The
first plan was to consider direct access off SRl132, (b~iami church Rd. ) ~ minor
collector road with the site located approx~nately 5 miles from the US601 intersection.
This road system has blind curves a:~.d variable grade changes posing a potential
safety hazard. SRl132 serves a rural resident/al area where tke development and
expansion cf this road would have a p_roportienately higher n~g~live hnpact than that
the alternative option.

Direct access to the site off NC200 is a better alternative. It is located
approxi~gate!y one quarter ~n~e from th~ US~£01 intersection. NC200 is -% two la~]e
major collector street better designed to accommodate not only commute traffic but
larger service rebec!es as we~. It currently serves a semi-rural residential area
beginning at Lancaster, SC and ending at the US601 intersect/o:/. It was primarily
built to serve Reed Gold b~-ine. At present, US601 has a !eft turn lane onto NC 200
which is not a light controlled intersect/on. The design capacity of the road is
13,000 vehicles per day (VPD). The average davy (ADT) was est~aated to be 3,300
