WORK PROGRAM <br /> FOR USE OF <br />STATE APPROPRIATION TO LROs <br />TO ASSIST LOCAL GOVERNMENTS <br />1992-93 <br /> <br />ASSIST LOCAL GOVERNMENTS WITH HOME AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br /> <br />GRANT FUNDS <br /> <br />The staff will prepare CDBG applications for the Community <br />Revitalization or Economic Development category this year for member <br />governments. The applications would be prepared at no cost to <br />member governments. <br /> <br />In addition, <br />requested, <br />communities. <br /> <br /> the COG staff will prepare HOME applications, as <br />for local government consortia and individual <br /> <br />II. ASSIST LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN INITIATING STRATEGIC PLANNING PROGRAMS <br /> <br />State funds would be used to assist communities utilizing <br />Centralina's assistance for strategic planning. <br /> <br />III. REGIONAL BUILDING PERMIT TRACKING SYSTEM <br /> <br />Work on a Regional Building Permit Tracking System began in 1992. <br />The purpose of this study is to develop a mechanism whereby building <br />activity is monitored throughout the Centralina Region and in <br />adjacent counties in North and South Carolina. Building permits <br />will be gathered from these jurisdictions and will be categorized as <br />to the nature of the development (e.g., residential, commercial, <br />etc.) and construction value. An initial assessment of building <br />permit activity in the eight-County Centralina region from January- <br />August, 1992 is anticipated to be completed by November 1, 1992. <br />Building permit data will be available in a variety of geographic <br />levels ranging from county and regionwide data to the census tract <br />level. Once the information is gathered and imputed, it will be <br />made available on a regular basis to local governments. <br /> <br />IV. DATA CENTER SERVICES <br /> <br />Quarterly updates to COG's Regional Data Book continue to be made. <br />In addition, COG staff provides local governments and the general <br />public with data information on an as-needed basis. <br /> <br />V. CONTINGENCY AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC <br /> <br />ACTIVITIES <br /> <br />Interest in other community and economic activities have been <br />expressed from member jurisdictions. Upon requests from member <br />governments, preparation of these plans will be financed with State <br />Funds. <br /> BDWP.C <br /> <br /> <br />
