Box 707 Concord, NC 28026-0707 Dear John: In a regular meeting on October 22, 1992, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission took action on the following items: The first agenda item was the reconsideration of the Spring Youth Baseball-Major/Minor League Formation. A majority of the Cabarrus County Athletic League officials attended this meeting to give their input on the Major/Minor League Concept. The Youth League officials voiced their concern to change the present format to a Major/Minor League within baseball age groups. The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed this proposal for more than one hour. The Commission approved to appoint the Program Committee to devise exact details and guidelines with input from League Officials and Department Staff before the next monthly meeting. ~' In first item on the agenda under reports, Vice-Chairman Jim Johnson presented the Program Committee report on the Athletic Division and alternatives as to how to more efficiently serve the County. As documented by their attached report, with the present level in Athletics and the high growing rate, one person cannot efficiently keep up with the present work load. Changes must be made now if Athletics are to continue in Cabarrus County. The Parks and Recreation Commission voiced their strong concerns for one additional staff position for Youth and Adult Athletics. on the second item on the agenda under Reports, the Parks and Recreation Commission approved to reschedule their meeting from November 26 to December 1, 1992. On the third item on the agenda under Reports, the Executive-Property committee presented the summary of action on the Proposed Park Concept at Camp T.N. Spencer.
