The Program Committee met on Tuesday, October 13th. The
purpose was to discuss the Athletic Division and alternatives as to
how to more efficiently serve the County.

PROBLEM:

Currently there is one Athletic Staff Member in
charge of Youth Athletics, Adult Athletics,
Athletic Special Events, Coaches Certification, and
Administrative work. Seasons overlay with
administrative duties while special.events fall at
various times thrgughout the year thus creating a
tremendous work load for one person. Coupled with
-this, teams and county residents are growing at a
tremendous rate.

Each sport or special event entails a tremendous
amount of administrative work. For example, each
sport requires:

- Organizational Meetings - setting dates, By-Laws,
schedule review, etc.
- Rule Revisions, Proofing, Printing Distribution
- Schedules (8-20) Developing, Coordinating,
Proofing, Master Schedule, Facility Schedule,
etc.
- Verification of Age
- Insurance List
- Revenue Collection
- Officials Schedules
- Payrolls
- Costs Analysis
- Facility Reservations
- Preparation of facility coordination
- Standings
- Protests
- Rain/Snow/School Cancellations
- Make-Up Schedules
- Trophy Orders - Distribution
- Evaluation

Each of these elements requires a tremendous amount of time.
One person cannot efficiently keep up with the work load.
Therefore, there are many complaints and problems. This
coupled with the changes over the past year has proven to take
its toll as there have been numerous complaints, accusations,
problems, rumors, animosity, and so on. We are not in a
positive environment where Athletics are concerned. CHANGES
MUST BE MADE NOW IF ATHLETICS ARE TO CONTINUE IN CABARRUS

COUNTY.
