The David Murdock Senior Center in Kannapolis provides two <br /> dances/sOcials each month. Average attendance is 200 <br /> I 'people. (Women outnumber men 7 to 1, therefore, few <br /> couples attend together). <br /> <br /> E. The Department of Aging hosts an annual Christmas Party. <br /> I year was 660. <br /> Attendance <br /> last <br /> <br /> F. The Department of Aging hosts a volunteer breakfast - 238 <br /> i attended last year. <br /> G. Senior Games committee wishes to move opening ceremonies to <br /> i the Senior Center. 500 attended last year. <br /> <br /> 5. JUSTIFICATION: <br /> I A. Parking facilities need to be expanded from 74 to 174 to <br /> adequately cover the anticipated use Of Cabarrus County <br /> I Senicr Center. <br /> B. Additional parking spaces will prevent elderly participants <br /> I from parking in unsafe areas. <br /> <br /> SUmmARY: <br /> I We ask the City of Concord to consider this worthy parking lot <br /> project and provide financial assistance in funding this <br /> I project. Our Senior Center is centrally located accessible to <br /> all senior citizens. Our goal as a senior center is to provide <br /> services and activities which promote wellness, maintain <br /> dignity, self worth and independence, ultimately allaying the <br /> ialternative of institutionalization. <br /> <br />! <br />! <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
