Hr. Cerald A. Newton, Plannin~ and Zonin§ Director, and Hr. Jonathan <br />Harsha11, Planner, reviewed the proposed Northwestern Small A~ea Plan and asked <br />tha~ the Board consider its adoption as a policy Euide ~or land use development <br />in that area. The No~th~ester~Area included Chat area o~ the county bordered <br />to the north and vast by the boundaries of Hecklenburg, Irede11, and Rowan <br />Counties, to the east by the city linits of Kannapolis, and to the south by <br />HatCh Carolina Highway 73. As included in the study, Hr. Hewton suggested that <br />the Board ask the State Department of Transpor~ation to consider Alternative 1 <br />~or the Vests/de Bypass as in his opinion it was the most appropriate <br />alternative based on land-use decisions. During discussion, the Board expressed <br />no objections to the $mall Area Plan as written; however, Board members did <br />indicate the need to request input £ron the Kannapolis City Council due to the <br />relationship Of the area co the City of Kannapolls. <br /> UtO! ~OTIOH of Co~issioner Pa>ma, seconded by Co~raissionar Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board instructed the County Hana&ac to contact the <br />Rannapolis City Hanager to arrange a meeCfng for presentation of the proposed <br />Horthwestern $~all Area Plan to the Kannapolis City Council for its review and <br />conu~ents. ~he Board will again consider the $~all Area ?lan aC its meeting on <br />Hatch 6. <br /> <br /> January 21, 1991 <br /> <br /> <br />
