(d) A sample of £he water shall be collected and analyzed by <br />the Health Director for Escherichia Coliform bacteria not leas than 48 <br />hours after chlorine has been removed from the well. <br /> (e) The sample of water from the yell must be free from <br />Eucherichia Coliform bacteria prior to the final inspection by the <br />Health Director. AIl supplies that fail to meet the bacteriological <br />~tandard of no Eacherichia Coliform bacteria should be equipped with <br />mechanical devices to insure adeqoata disinfection. <br /> <br /> Section VII ~ELL ~AIRTENAI~CB ~ REPAIR <br /> (a) Every ~ell shall be maintained in a conditiOn whereby it <br />will not be a source or channel of contamination or pollution to the <br />water supply. <br /> (b) All materials used in the maintenance, replacement, or <br />repair or any veil shall meet the require~ents for ne~ installation. <br /> (c) Broken, punctured or otherwise defective or unserviceable <br />casin~, screens, fixtures, seals, or any part of thc veil head shall be <br />repaired or replaced, as aeon as possible, or the well shall be <br />permanently abandoned. <br /> (d) Repairs to yells completed with the well head terminating <br />below ground (hurled seal) shall include extending the well casing above <br />land surface. The Health Director shall not approve any well having an <br />entry below land serrate. ~e ex~ension shall be umde as follows: <br /> (1) A tapered sleeve shall be inserted inside of the <br /> casing and shall extend at least six inches down <br /> into the existing casing. The extension casing <br /> shall be welded or bonded to the existing casing <br /> around the outside of the Joint; or <br /> (2) A sleeve shall be heated and swedged over existing <br /> casing with at least six inches of overlap. <br /> Cement grou£ shall be placed around the casing, extending from <br />land surface to depth of at least one foot below the Joint formed by the <br />casings. The grout shall h~ve a ~inimum thickness of one and <br />five-tenths inches. <br /> (e) ~ational Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approved ~¥C pipe <br /> a£ ~ay used for liner casing. The liner casing shall <br />rated <br /> 1600 <br /> Pi1 <br /> be <br />be installed with centering guides to insure proper centering in the <br />~ell. ~he annular apace around the liner casing shall be at leas£ <br />five-eights inches and shall be completed filled with neat-cement grout. <br /> <br />Section VIII ABA~DOItHENT OF ~£LL$ <br />(a) ~vary veil whose uae or construction has been <br />diacnntinued shall be abandoned in accordance with these regulations. <br /> (b) ~hen any veil is temporarily removed from service or <br />before a ~ell is put into service, it shall be sealed ~ith a vater-~ight <br />cap or seal. <br /> (c) The well shall be maintained whereby it is not a source <br />or channel of conc~lnation during temporary abandon~en£. <br /> (d) £very £emporarlly abandoned veil shall be protected with <br />a casln~. <br /> <br /> <br />
