(d) A sample of £he water shall be collected and analyzed by the Health Director for Escherichia Coliform bacteria not leas than 48 hours after chlorine has been removed from the well. (e) The sample of water from the yell must be free from Eucherichia Coliform bacteria prior to the final inspection by the Health Director. AIl supplies that fail to meet the bacteriological ~tandard of no Eacherichia Coliform bacteria should be equipped with mechanical devices to insure adeqoata disinfection. Section VII ~ELL ~AIRTENAI~CB ~ REPAIR (a) Every ~ell shall be maintained in a conditiOn whereby it will not be a source or channel of contamination or pollution to the water supply. (b) All materials used in the maintenance, replacement, or repair or any veil shall meet the require~ents for ne~ installation. (c) Broken, punctured or otherwise defective or unserviceable casin~, screens, fixtures, seals, or any part of thc veil head shall be repaired or replaced, as aeon as possible, or the well shall be permanently abandoned. (d) Repairs to yells completed with the well head terminating below ground (hurled seal) shall include extending the well casing above land surface. The Health Director shall not approve any well having an entry below land serrate. ~e ex~ension shall be umde as follows: (1) A tapered sleeve shall be inserted inside of the casing and shall extend at least six inches down into the existing casing. The extension casing shall be welded or bonded to the existing casing around the outside of the Joint; or (2) A sleeve shall be heated and swedged over existing casing with at least six inches of overlap. Cement grou£ shall be placed around the casing, extending from land surface to depth of at least one foot below the Joint formed by the casings. The grout shall h~ve a ~inimum thickness of one and five-tenths inches. (e) ~ational Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approved ~¥C pipe a£ ~ay used for liner casing. The liner casing shall rated 1600 Pi1 be be installed with centering guides to insure proper centering in the ~ell. ~he annular apace around the liner casing shall be at leas£ five-eights inches and shall be completed filled with neat-cement grout. Section VIII ABA~DOItHENT OF ~£LL$ (a) ~vary veil whose uae or construction has been diacnntinued shall be abandoned in accordance with these regulations. (b) ~hen any veil is temporarily removed from service or before a ~ell is put into service, it shall be sealed ~ith a vater-~ight cap or seal. (c) The well shall be maintained whereby it is not a source or channel of conc~lnation during temporary abandon~en£. (d) £very £emporarlly abandoned veil shall be protected with a casln~.
