-2- <br /> <br />dollars ($5,000.00) or less in any simgle-family residence or <br />farm building unless the work involves: the addition, repair, or <br />replacement of load-bearing structures; the addition (excluding <br />replacement of same size and capacity) or change in the design of <br />plumbing; the addition, replacement, or change in the design of <br />heating, air conditioning, or electrical wiring, devices, appli- <br />ances, or equipment, the use of materials not permitted by the <br />North Carolina Uniform Residential Building Code; or the addition <br />(excluding replacement of like grade of fire resistance) of roof- <br />ing. N.C.G.S. § 143-138(b). <br /> <br /> 4. It shall be unlawful to commence or proceed with any new <br />construction without first obtaining an Insulation Permit. <br /> <br /> 5. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corpora- <br />rich, who for consideration installs, alters, or restores any <br />insulation or other materials or energy utilization equipment <br />designed or intended to meet the State Building Code requirements <br />for insulation and energy utilization standards, to begin work <br />without first securing a permit. N.C.G.S~ '§'-I43-151.29.
