MEMO

TO: Mike Ruffin
FROM: Angels Ferguson ~
DATE: June 13, 1991

The Council on Aging Advisory Board met on May 20th. During
this meeting several issues arose that our board wishes to
submit before the County Commissioners. The first issue
includes the Board's adoption of the three enclosed
policies. These policies include:

a disruptive behavior policy
children in the center and
consignment shop use.

If it is the pleasure of the Board we will follow the
criteria set forth in these policies. I want to point out
that we have many policies to set which will not come before
our board. For example current policies and procedures for
the In-Home Aide, Respite services are three inches thick.
These reflect personnel issues (i.e., how to fill out a time
sheet, step by step) as well as how to handle a suicide
threat. We will submit those that are not clearly spelled
out in the service standards as we feel there indeed exist
areas such as with the three above. We will be
gray
remitting a facility use policy scon for board review and
approval.

The Council on Aging Advisory Board also voted to bring
before the Commissioners naming of our multipurpose room
"The Cannon Multi-purpose Room" and our Library/Conference
room "The Barnes Library." Dan Gray of the Cannon
Foundation, Inc. contacted me on 6/3/91.

He was delighted that our board wanted to show thanks in
this fashion. He requested if plaque was cast, he wished to
proof the draft. I have not contacted Fred Lippard and Edna
Mae Stokes Lippard, however feel certain this honor will be
equally received if the Board of Commissioners support this
recommendation from our Advisory Board.

Depa~ment of Aging
PO 5o~ ;mS · Conc~d, NC 28026.10~5 ° (7~)
