Simons: <br /> <br /> RE: Service Delivery Area Designation <br /> <br /> As part of the plan to maintain the stability of the Job Training <br /> Partnership Act (JTPA) system in Rorth Carolina~ the Governor is a[[o~,ed to <br /> revie~ and redesignate service delivery areas (SDAs) every t~o years. Sf he <br /> so chooses. <br /> <br /> The Centralina Service Delivery Ar~a is composed of Cabarrus, [redel[, <br /> Lincoln~ Ro~an, Stanly and Un~on counties. A consort~u~ including these <br /> s~x counties vas for~ed in June 1983. Hr. C. Harry Huss of Lincoln County <br /> currently serves as Chairman of the Consortium. <br /> <br /> The Consortium estab[ished a t~enty member Private Industry Council, vith <br /> members from al1 s~ counties~ to act as the pr~uaary policy body for the <br /> Service Deliver~. Area and the Job Trainin8 Partnership Act. Hr. David <br /> · homas o~ Union County and Hr. Jesse Corz7 of Ro~an County are :he Chairman <br /> and V~ce-Cha~rman, respectively, of the Centralina Private Industry <br /> Council. <br /> <br /> The Centralfna Service Delivery Area has been in operation for e~ght years. <br /> During that time ~t has conststenly performed as one the State's best. <br /> This can be attributed, in large measure, to the co~ttment and <br /> follo~-through demonstrated by the local elected offtdals in our s~x <br /> counties, their appointees serving on the Private Industry Council, and the <br /> many dedicated service providers and employers ~ho have ~ade the programs <br /> as successful as they have been. <br /> <br /> The State has prepared a designation packase to be used by units of <br /> 8overn~ent in petit~oning for sera,ce delivery area status.
