The original agreement outlined the basic <br /> services to be provided along with a brief scope of work, but left the amount of the fee to be <br /> negotiated until the bidding phase of the project was comp]ere and a more accurate assessment <br /> I of the duration of the project and scope of sen,ices could be determined. <br /> Also, negotiating the geolechnical and malerials testing scope of services to be provided by Law <br /> Engineering was required prior to finalizing our fee negotiations. We had originally requested <br /> more exlensive geolechnical engineering support from Law Engineering than they were willing <br /> lo provide for what was a reasonable fee, in our opinion. The final scope of sen,ices for Law <br /> Engineering covers only routine materials tesling services and a limited amount of a geologist's <br /> time. Therefore, we had IO increase HDR's scope of service IO include additional geotechnical <br /> <br /> i engineering support that would not be provided by L~w. <br /> I am enclosing an amendment Io our Seplember 8, 1987, agreement which derails the <br /> <br /> i construction contract administration services required and the associated fee for ),our review. <br /> <br /> The amendmenl also addresses the scope of sen,ices and associated fee to provide environmental <br />· and engineering design services for the wetlands mitigation plan as required by Corps of <br /> Engineer~ 404 permit. This will include design of the mitigmion plan including preparation of <br /> construction contraci documents for receipt of public bids, coordinalion' with the N.C Forest <br /> 1Service and other state agencies, assisting the County in solicitation of bids, administering the <br /> bidding process, bid evalualion and assistance in securing an execuled contract. <br /> <br /> of Norlh CaroltAa 128 S.
