HUNTING AND FISHING DAY <br /> PROCI~MATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, hunting and fishing have always been an important part of the American <br /> tradition; and <br /> <br />VH-IEREAS, for over 100 years, hunters and anglers have been in the forefront of the <br /> conservation movement, providing the impetus and the financing for many <br /> of the wildlife conservation programs existing today; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these programs have resulted in the dramatic comeback of many species <br /> such as woodchucks, whitetailed deer, trumpeter swan, xx41d turkey, elk and <br /> pronghorn antelope; and <br /> <br />WttEREAS, as individuals, and through their organizations, sportsmen and women <br /> volunteer countless hours of their time for conservation projects and to <br /> educate others about the wise management of our natural resources; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we commend the ethical hunters and anglers of Cabarrus County for their <br /> unselfish dedication and contributions to conservation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, to date sportsmen and women have provided more than $12 billion <br /> nationally for conservation programs that benefit all species of fish and <br /> wildlife, chipmunks and song birds as well as deer and elk. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby join with President George Bush, the Congress of the United <br />States, and Governor James Martin in declaring September 28, 1991 as National Hunting <br />and Fishing Day and call upon all citizens of Cabarrus County to join with sportsmen- <br />conservationists in their efforts to ensure the wise use and proper management of our <br />natural resources to benefit future generations. <br /> <br /> Adopted this 3rd day of September, 1991. <br /> <br /> Billy J.
