MEMORANDUM

TO: BOARD OF COmmISSIONERS
FROM: AUBREY'ATTKISSON'~%~
DIRECTOR, EMERGENCY
MEDICAL
SERVICES

DATE: SEPTEMBER 26~ 1991

SUBJECT: EMS - NEW STATION NO. 2

In a conversation with Carolyn Carpenter on September 9,
she stated that the Commissioners wanted to try and design
Ambulance Station 2 in the same manner of the construction
design of the Mt. Pleasant Ambulance Station. Attached are two
(2) different design blueprints that meet the same criteria of
that Station. Also, attached are an estimate on cost of a
stick built design (Option 1) and general information on a
modular design (Option 2). Option 2 cost estimates will be
presented at the October 7 Board. Meeting.

Preliminary figures indicate that Option No. 2 will be
less expensive than option No. 1. I feel Option No. 2 allows
us the ability to have a facility that fits in with the
surrounding community. This property is located across the
street from Central Cabarrus High Sch¢ol in a predominately
residential section. The house can be situated on the land to
allow for future expansion, if needed.

If approval is given at the October 7 Board Meeting, we
should be able to vacate the premises at the present location
of Station 2 before November 30. This will give Mr. Joyner a
time frame in which to meet the of
thirty
day
N.C.
Department
Transportation's deadline, December 31, for removing his
building off of the State right-of-way.

Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any
questions on any of the information that I have given you.
Again, all cost estimates for Option 2 will be given to the
Board at the October 7 Board Meeting.

AA:Jys

Attachments

Eme*gen~ Med~c~
