Olti~ely, however, this position vas classified by
~he Sta~e as a Clerical Supe~isor V at Grade 61. (We ~de s~e chanEes in the
position duties and ~esponsibilities in o[flel to make the mos~
use of this position.)

Linda ~eilit ~ts p~o~ted to this position. She received ~he 5 percent pay
increase to which ~he ~as entitled at the t~e of he~ p~omotion. (She would have
· eceived the equivalent of a 5 percent, one step increase whether her new
classification ve~e Clerical Supervisor IV o~ Clerical 5upe~isor V.)

The~e is no Clerical Supe~isor V in the exiscint County Pay Plan. ~ticle II
(paEe 8) of the Personnel Ordinance indicates the ~oard of Co=issioners
establishes ney classes. ~ls beint the case, ~e planned in consultation with the
Personnel Offict (and throuEh ~hat oliice with the Panance Oifice) to leave ~his
position at the IV level until the next budset cycle when the Board would be
dealin~ with othe~ classification issues, he ney classification could be added
to the pay plan and F~. teilit could be assi8ned to the proper ciassifica~ion at
that t~e. No further pay adjustment would be needed as ~. ~eilil his already
received the pay increase to which she is entitled.

Unfortunately, we have found that our retional DHR Personnel Office feels
that ~. Heilit should be assiEned to the app~opriate classifica~ion nov.
Re8ional Director, ~tha GeouEe, ~xplained to me tha~ State Personnel no~a!ly
only delays assil~ent of hdivlduals to the appzop~iate class when a county has
no~ budgeted to pay the affected intivit~l it the hithi~ rate of pay. ~e of
course cannot cla~ this as ye are already pa~inI ~. ~eiliI at the ~ate to which
she would be entitled were her classification correct.)

~padmenl of ~clal Ss~s
P.O. ~ ~
