UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hess, Seconded by Commissioner Namby with <br />Commissioners Moss, Hamby, and Melvin and Chairman Lentz voting for, the Board <br />agreed to ask Representative Bobby N. Barbee, St., to add Cabarrus County ~o <br />tho following proposed bill to permit the taking of foxes during hunting season. <br /> <br /> AN ACT TO PERMIT THE TAKING OF FOXES IN STANLY COUNTY <br /> <br /> The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: <br /> Section 1. Not w£thstanding any ether provision of law, there <br /> is an open season for taking foxes with weapons from December 1 <br /> through January 1 of each year. <br /> Section 2. Notwithstandin~ any other provision of law, there <br /> is an open season for taking foxes by trapping from January 2 <br /> through January 31 of each year. During this season, all leghold <br /> traps set on dry land with solid anchor shall have at least three <br /> swivels in the trap chain and no leghold traps larger than size one <br /> and one-half may be used. <br /> Section 3. ^ season bag limit of 20 applies in the aggregate <br /> to all foxes taken durin~ the weapons and trapping seasons <br /> established in this act. <br /> Section &. The Wildlife Resources Gommisslon shall provide <br /> for the sale of foxes taken lawfully pursuant to this act. <br /> Section 5. ~lis act shall apply only to Stanly County. <br /> Section 6. This act shall become effective upon passage, <br /> <br />ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON NOVEMBER 20, 1989. <br /> <br /> Board members indicated they ]lad received numerous telephone calls <br /> from citizens expressing concerns relative to the trapping of foxes in <br /> Cabarrus County.
