RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chapters 121 and 132 of the General Statutes of North CarOlina define <br /> Public Records as "all documents, papers, letters, maps, bOoks, <br /> photographs, films, sound recordings, magnetic or other tapes, electronic <br /> data processing records, artifacts, or other documental3, material, <br /> regardless of physical form or characteristics, made or received pursuant <br /> to law or ordinance in connection with the transaction of public business <br /> by any agency of North Carolina government or its subdivisions"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Archives and History and the North Carolina Department <br /> of Cultural ResOurces have issued a Records Retention and DispoSition <br /> Schedule Specifying the retention periods governing the records series for <br /> each of the following offices: County Administrative, Financial, Legal, <br /> and Personnel Offices (dated December 1, 1982 and revised November <br /> 1985); Sheriffs Department (dated July 1, 1982); Register of Deeds <br /> (dated July 1, 1982); Tax Supervisor and Tax Collector (dated July 1, <br /> 1982); County Libraries (dated October 1, 1985); and Data Processing <br /> (dated January 1987); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Director of the Division of Archives and Hi~tory and the Secretary <br /> of the Department of Cultural Resources have certified that such records <br /> as specified in the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule have no <br /> further use or value for research or reference; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all provisions of the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule will <br /> remain in effect until such time the schedule is officially amended by the <br /> Division of Archives and History and the Department of Cultural <br /> Resources. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrnls <br />County that: <br /> <br /> 1. The Records Retention and Disposition Schedule as issued by the <br /> Division of Archives and History and the North Carolina Department of <br /> Cultural Resources is hereby approved for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> 2. The destruction or other disposition of records as specified in the Records <br /> Retention and Disposition Schedule is hereby authorized without further <br /> approval by the Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br /> 3. The Records Retention and Disposition Schedule is on file with the <br /> Clerk to the Board of Commissioners and is hereby included by reference <br /> as a part of the minutes. <br /> <br /> Adopted this the 19th day of February, 1990. <br /> <br /> <br />
