Matin, Governor <br /> February 9, 1990 <br /> <br /> MEETING NOTICE <br /> <br /> The North Carolina Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management <br /> Authority will meet on Wednesday, February 21, 1990 at 1 p.m. in Studio <br /> B of the UNC Center for Public Television, l0 Alexander Drive, <br /> Research Triangle Park. <br /> <br /> The Authority will receive a report from its site operator <br /> contractor, Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc., on the pre-characterization <br /> studies conducted on the favorable site areas in Richmond, Rowan, <br /> Union, and Wake/Chatham Counties. The report will include a <br /> recommendation on sites for characterization. A tentative agenda is on <br /> the back. <br /> <br /> A final decision on site characterization will be made in.two <br />weeks after the Authority has reviewed the report, received advice <br />from the Authority's technical consultant, and received public input. <br />Community meetings will be held to receive public comments on the sites <br />recommended for characterization. <br /> <br /> To inform the public about the important announcement, the UNC <br />Center for Public Television will televise the meeting beginning at 1 <br />p.m. on public television channels across the state. The public is <br />encouraged to watch the meeting from their homes or offices. <br /> <br /> Persons wishing to attend the meeting should arrive no later than <br />12:30 p.m. Limited seating is available in Studio B and persons will <br />be seated on a first come, first served basis. A public comment <br />period will be provided. Presentations may be made orally or in <br />writing. Anyone wishing to speak must sign up at the meeting.
