CA~IB'A, IR~R?~S: .CO, UJN TY

CONCORD, NOR. TH CAROLINA

TO: Mike Ruffin & C~arrus County Commissioners
Derelle Kiser

DATE March 1, 1990

SUBJECT: Water Receipts

I request your permission to destroy paid water receipts,
according to the attached ordinance, as we do not have one.

The disposition of County utility records is not included in The Records
Retention and Disposition Schedule' issued by the Division of Archives and
History and the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources and approved
by the Board of Commissioners on February 19, 1990. A revision is to be
released in late spring and will include guidelines for the retention and
disposition of utility records.

In order to dispose of utility records at this timg Mr. A1 Hargrove of
the Division of Archives and History has recommended that Cabarrus County
follow the Municipal Government Standard for the Disposition of Public Works
and Public Utility General Records (copy attached). It is therefore requested
that the Board of Commissioners approve the disposition of the paid water
receipts for the period 1984-1988 and authorize the submission of a request
to the Division of Archives and History for permission to destroy these records.
