Kannapol is for an <br /> area yet to be defined The basic request s to be a one <br /> <br /> planning and regulation of development in Rowan County, the <br /> City has already exercised the r pr ivi iege in Rowan. Zoning and <br /> subdivision central is being annua ly contracted with <br /> Uenchmark Inc. , a private consultant serving 7 counties, <br /> clt~es and towns in the area. The original establishment of <br /> planning, zoning, and eub~lvislons and the framework ol the <br /> current regulations was done by the County when Kannapol s <br /> became incorporated in 3984. <br /> <br /> The law also states thai areas ol extraterritorial <br /> jut Isd~ct'ion are to bo determined by officially adopted <br /> plans of the area which detail its existing or projected <br /> urban development or ils reason tot critical concern. In <br /> other words, Kannapolls should have official plans for the <br /> area to ~ustify the request. <br /> <br /> There remain many ssues to thi~ request ~hlch should be <br /> resolved prior to the Board of Commissioners releasing an <br /> UnRnow~ area. I t appears that Iho land area to tho west <br /> will include tho northern portion of ttle Western Bypass. <br /> The prop0r planning and development for this whole bypass <br /> <br /> <br />
