i ,~t,,_- VED
CABARRUS COUNT5 MAY 1 6
Post Office Box 707 t
CONCORD. NORTH CAROLINA 28025' co::,,,~

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mike Ruffin, County Manager

FROM: ~J Henry F. Waldroup, Utilities Director

DATE: May 14, 1990

SUBJECT: WATER EXTEHSION MIDLAND AREA

As instructed, a recent study was performed to determine the
potential of extending County Utility Water lines into a rural area
located to the west of U.S. Highway 601 sonth. The roads in
question, for this study are Cal Bost Road, Troutman Road, Grey
Bark Road, Snow Crest Drive and Jim Sossoman Road. For the County
to undertake this endeavor the following would be true:

- T~e area in question is located outside of Water/Sewer District
boundaries

Approximately 21,000 linear feet of 8", 6" and 2" water llne
with appurtenances would be required

The estimated cost of the lines is $337,888.00

The number of potential services in the area is 64
There are no funds, such as Community Development Block Grants,
or any other financial assistance available to aid the County
with this extension

with minimum front footage fees a total of only $51,200.00 would
be applicable with 100!~ participation

since this project is not identified in our ten year needs
assessment program. The potehtial for development is not great
enough at this time and no fnnds are available. It is my opinion
that the County should not pursue such a costly project at this
time.
