RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chapters 121 and 132 of the General Statutes of North Carolina define <br /> Public Records as "ali documents, papers, letters, maps, books, <br /> photographs, films, sound recordings, magnetic or other tapes, electronic <br /> data processing records, artifacts, or other doCumentary material, <br /> regardless of physical form or characteristies, made or received purs, uant <br /> to law or ordinance in connection with the transaction of public business <br /> by any agency of North Carolina government or its subdivisions"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Archives and History and the North Carolina Department <br /> · of Cultural Resources have issued a Records Retention and Disposition <br /> SChedule specifying the retention periods governing the records series for <br /> the County Veterans Service Office (dated October 1, 1985); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Director of the Division of Archives and History and the Secretary <br /> of the Department of Cultural Resources have certified that such recurds <br /> as specified in the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule for the <br /> County Veterans Service Office have no further use or value for research <br /> or reference; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all provisions of the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule for the <br /> County Veterans Service Office will remain in effect until such time tile <br /> schedule is officially amended by tile Division of .4schives and History <br /> and the Department of Cultural Resources. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus <br />County that: <br /> <br /> 1. The Records Retention and Disposition Schedule for the County Veterans <br /> Service Office as issued by the Division of Archives and History and the <br /> North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources is hereby approved for <br /> Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> 2. The destruction or other disposition of records as specified in the Records <br /> Retention and Disposition Schedule for the County Veterans Service <br /> Office is hereby authorized without further approval by the Board of <br /> Commissioners. <br /> <br /> 3. Tile Records Reteotion and Disposition Schedule for the County Veterans <br /> Service Office is on file with the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners <br /> and is hereby included by reference as a part of the minutes. <br /> <br /> Adopted this the 18th day of June, 1990. <br /> <br /> <br />
