Pilkington, Health Director <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for Curbside Recycling of 10,000 Homes in Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> Summary <br /> <br />Cabarrus County has requested bids to provide the public a pilot curbside <br />recycling program for the collection of newspapers, glass containers, <br />aluminum/bi-metal cans, and PET bottles. Other materials such as HPDE may <br />be negotiated after program is in operation. The program will be <br />implemented in three (3) phases: first phase to include 10,000 homes, <br />second phase to include approximately 12,500 homes, and third phase to <br />include approximately 12,500 homes. In the first phase the 10,000 homes <br />will be divided as follows: Concord-4,000, Kannapolis-4,000, Harrisburg- <br />1,000, and Mr. Pleasant-l,O00. <br /> <br />Materials will be placed on the curb in a 14 gallon plastic container by <br />the resident. The contractor will be responsible for all sorting, <br />handling, processing and m~rketing of materials.
