Facilities are <br /> developed both by the county and vith other' comunity organizations through a <br /> matching grants program. Programs are developed to meet the needs that are not <br /> being served by other local agencies~ public or private. ~eode are identified <br /> through contact vith various individoals and groups in the commonity, surveys, and <br /> recent trends vithin the leisure service field itself. The department has attempted <br /> to develop a veil-balanced arts program for citizens of all ages vith both visual and <br /> performing arts. The staff of the department~ along vith various part-time <br /> volunteers~ and participanta~ meet to evaluate and upirade these services. <br /> Cabarrus County agencies are governed by the local government fiocal control act. <br /> <br /> Communi~ Involvement Please describe your organization's eflo~s to actively involve traditionally <br /> undersexed audiences (racial and ethnic minorities, senior cit~ens, disabled <br /> persons, inst~utionalized persons, economically disadvaotsged persons and <br /> geographical~ isolated persons) in the following areas: board and staff <br /> development, program development, audience development and communications <br /> (publications. publicly, etc.). <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation programs are open to all Cabarrus County <br /> citizens; this particular program is designed for ages $ through eighteen. Contacts <br /> viii be made vith various schools to attempt to set up the programs at convenient <br /> times and locations. If necessary~ arrangements viii be made to discount admi:sion <br /> costs to make the programs accessible to all. The staff of :he department rill york <br /> vith the school/agency staffs involved to meet special needs. All co~nications <br /> for the programs viii be handled by the Special Populations/Special £vents Supervisor~ <br /> vith assistance from the Special Programs Supervisor. <br /> <br /> Program Description P/ease give a brief description of the progam for which you are requesting <br /> assistance. <br /> <br /> Tn an et'fort to provide a vide variety of arts expe;£ences, the Cabarrus County <br /> Parks and Rec:eation Department ~iI1 plan =nd implement a series of activities for <br /> youths of Cabarrus County~ ages .%-18. Activities may include vo£kshopo, performance% <br /> and participatory experiences vith puppetry, storytelling, drams~ and more. Artists <br /> in these areas v£1l be con~:tacted to provide educational and entertaining experiences <br /> for the participante.
