Page 3
oo
Memo roi ~ike and Diane

I am sure I have not thought of everything. I have only several actual
prices of items but many estimates. I also have heard but not seen
anything concrete that the land acquisition of the Goodman property
has not been completed. There needs to be a figure for this, perhaps
$10,0007

For what it is worth I'feel'that in'th~-~i~gs--~Y~the public and hearts of
the seniors, is a picture-of a $960,000 building. To appropriate less
would be a reflection of our integrity. I have Advisory Board members
who boast to the press that we have "...extra money..,? as a result of
the $739,400 single prime bid. Contributions have stopped coming in
because "we met our goal."

I know. You want to save our county money. I want you to also. We cannot
afford to appear to take away from this project. I was present on that
cold night in December. I heard the motion. I read it in the minutes.
300 Council on Aging members understood it this way by reading board
papers. The seniors were challenged to raise money with a match from
the County; up to $120,000 with a $360,000 match. The seniors raised
their $20,000. They expect their match.

This probably sounds like a written threat. I do not intend for it to
read like this at all. Rather, it is my "gut feeling" and thereby only
advice.
