§ 143-318.11. Executive sessions. <br /> (a) permitted Purposes. -- A public body may bold an executi~,e <br />session and exclude the public: . <br /> <br /> (4) To consider the validity, settlement, or other disposition of <br /> a claim against or on behalf of the public body or an officer <br /> or employee of the public body or in which the public body <br /> finds that it has a substantial interest; or the commence- <br /> ment, prosecution, defense, settlement, or ]itlgation of a <br /> potential or pending judicial action or administrative pro- <br /> ceeding in which the I~ublic body or an officer or employee <br /> of thepubfic b~ly is a party or in which the public body <br /> finds that it has a substantial interest. Dur/ng such an <br /> executive session, the public body may gi~'e instructions to <br /> an attorney or other agent concerning the handling or set- <br /> flement of a claim, judicial act/on, or administrative pro- <br /> ceeding.
