August 28, 1990 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION BY THE <br /> CAaARRUS - ROWAN PARK CO,MISSION FOR <br /> THE GREENWAY DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />Whereas, greenweys ere linear open space parks that provid*e many <br />benefits to the region's psss~ve and active pursuits of recfestion~ <br /> <br />Whereas, the following ere among the socioeconomic benefits a <br />greenway can provide: <br /> <br /> Linear recreational activities, such as )ogging, hiking, <br /> walking, and bicycling; <br /> <br />[2) Facilities for picnicking, fitness activities, nature study, <br /> and other family and individual activities that enrich the <br /> q~Jslity of life in the reg~onl <br /> <br /> [3} Proposed link between Bakers Creek Park end other existing <br /> public facilities such as Village Park, Cannon Memorial YMCA, <br /> Cannon Memorinl Library, David Murdock Senior Centerl <br /> <br />Whereas, the proposed greenwsy will be a joint pro}ecl funded and <br />supported by Cabarcus-Bowan Park Commission, Cabsrrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, Rowan County Board of Commissioners, City of <br />Kannapolis.Council, Federal Land and Water Conservation funds, and <br />Atlantic American Propelties; <br /> <br />(1) Proposed project, estimatedrob'fo $75,500.O0, includes a ten foot <br /> trail system, a fifty --4'~"~-- tee! bridge, benches, tables, <br /> protective, fencing, general grading and landscaping; <br /> <br />(2) The. Federal Land end Water Conservation Funds (if approved) of <br /> fifty thousand dollars and the ability to match the land <br /> appraisal value will provide sixty-seven percent of the <br /> projected Greenwey Development Cost; <br /> <br />(3) Atlantic American Properties will donate approximately nine <br /> acres to the Cabar rus-Rowsn Perk Commission for the <br /> construction of a Greenway[ <br /> <br />(4) The remaining thirty-three percent of the Greenwey Development <br /> Budget will be funded by the three supporting governmental <br /> bodies through the Cabart us-Rowafl Perk Commission Annual <br /> Budget= Rowan County's Share - $6,375.00~ Cabar rue County <br /> Share - $t4,025.00, end City of Kannapolis Share - $5,100.00; <br /> <br />(Si Immediale funding of $2,250.00 will be required for the <br /> pre-application of the Federal Land and Water' Conservation Fund <br /> Grant. The following are percentages and amounts by <br /> governments-' Cabarrua County (55%) - ~1,23T.00~ Rowan County <br /> t25%) - $$63.00~ and City of Kannepolla (20~,) - $450.00. These <br /> funds woul~t be required*for land ~ppraisal coat end contract <br /> consultant expenses. <br /> <br /> <br />
