James Lentz, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> PO Box 707 <br /> I C <br /> oncord, NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br /> Dear Chairmau Lentz: <br />I As you know, Vision Cable of Hetrolina operates the cable television <br /> system serving Cabarrus County under a franchise, the initial term of <br /> <br />ivhich ends on November 9, 1993. The purpose of this letter is to <br />notify you of our request for renewal of the franchise for a period <br />of twenty (20) years, in accordance with the Federal Communications <br />Policy Act of 1984. <br />I Renewal standards and procedures are set forth in the federal statute. <br /> The Act provides that cable operators and franchising authorities <br /> I pursue the subject of franchise renewal through public hearings and <br /> also establishes certain specific standards and procedures to be <br /> observed in such proceedings. <br /> <br />I the renewal in the Act if the <br /> However, <br /> procedures <br /> are <br /> not <br /> franchising authority and cable operator agree that a renewal can be <br /> granted without going through the rather detailed process contemplated <br />I by the federal statute.
