Mr. William F. Pilkington, ttealth Director, requested that the Beard <br /> ban all tires from the County Landfill as a new company, U. S. Tire <br /> Disposal, had located a facility in Cabarrus County and had offored to <br /> receive all tires at a cost of sixty cents (60¢} per tire. He recommended <br /> that the Board approve a $1.50 handling fee for all tires inappropriately <br /> dumped into the landfill that would have to be removed and transported to <br /> U. S. Tire Disposal by County personnel. <br /> Mr. Fred Ensfinger, ownor of U. S. Tire Disposal, was present for the <br /> meeting and offered to work with the County in storing and transporting the <br /> tires from the landfill to U. S. Tire Disposal. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, tho Boar~ moved that'the Cabarrus County Landfill <br />continue to collect tires and that the fee for collection of tires at the <br />landfill be set at 75 cents {75¢) per tire. The Board requested Mr. William <br />F. Pilkington, Health Director, and Mr. Fred Ensfinger, owner of U. S. Tire <br />Disposal, to work out the collection and transportation of tires from the <br />landfill to the tire disposal company. Also, the'Board agreed that this <br />method of tire collection and disposal would be on a trial period of 60 days <br />with the matter to comm back to the Board at that time. <br /> <br />November 7, 1988 <br /> <br /> <br />
