Objectives: <br /> <br /> Marketing EFNEP Approach - <br /> <br /> (1) The number of homemakers in EFNEP will increase from ninety to 150. <br /> (2) Recruited homemakers will be taught in groups to improve cost- <br /> effectiveness and greater retention of nutrition 'knowledge. <br /> <br /> Teen pregnancy Outreach - <br /> <br /> (1) Pregnant teens involved in groups will imaintain a healthy diet and <br /> have a healthy baby. <br /> (2) Young teen mothers will |lave a better understanding of the nutritional <br /> needs of the teen years and set goals to ~mprove their health through <br /> proper diet, and pregnancy preventive measures. <br /> <br /> Teen Girls Outreach - <br /> <br /> (1) Teen girls, ages 12-16 will heighten their self-esteem.and become <br /> motivated to improve their diets and health. ~ <br /> (2) Sixty teen girls will be involved in special group lessons wh~re they <br /> increase practical skills in grocery buying, food preparation/meal <br /> planning and nutritional food choices. <br /> <br />III. Methods: <br /> <br /> (1) Videotape on the Cabarros County EFNEP program prepared, and used <br /> in marketing the program to potential audiences, advisory co~ittees <br /> volunteers, and agencies. <br /> <br /> (2) Pregnant Teen audiences recruited for special group lessons using <br /> ERIB-2 materials on Eating Right for Two, Feeding Your Infant. <br /> <br /> (3) Teen girls, ages 12-16, meet twice a month for special lessons on <br /> self-esteem, nutrition'and diet for health. <br /> <br />IV. Evaluation: <br /> <br /> (1) Number of homemakers (families) recruited as a result of the videotape <br /> presentation and other marketing materials. List will be kept on <br /> number enrolled in the office computer. <br /> (2) Number times video used to tell the EFNEP story to the public and <br /> other interested groups. <br /> (3) Nt~ber of pregnant teens involved in group sessions based on the <br /> potential ~in the Kannapolis area. <br /> (4) Observation of interest in maintaining health throughout pregnancy <br /> and the teen years. Comments from participants as to successes in <br /> attaining some practical skills in providing an adequate diet for them- <br /> selves and their infants. <br /> (5) Teen girls show indications of improved self-esteem and diet through <br /> activities provided at each group session. <br /> (6) Increased interest among teen girls in the housing projects to become <br /> involved in this "special" opportunity for growth and better health. <br /> <br /> <br />
