COUNTY <br />Concord, Nor~ Carolina 28206-1149 HSAtTH DSPT. <br /> <br /> Contract ~en~ent for Aerial <br /> ~graphic Su~ey of the Cabarrus <br /> C0~t~ S~itary L~dfill <br /> <br />~ar Dr. Pilkington: <br /> <br />~ re~ested at your recent~eting wi~ Joe Wise~n, we have contacted a <br />survey f~rm to obtain a price for oo~leting an aerial to.graphic survey <br />of the C~r~s CO~tyS~ita~ ~ndflll. ~ was discussed, the priory <br />~nefit of the Su~ey will ~ to evaluate the progress of the "area-fill" <br />operation at the l~dfill, and check ~e ~rrent elevations and side slopes <br />against ~e desi~ plus. This t~ of evaluation should beperformed <br />a~ually to insure that the o~ration is Confo~ing to the desi~ and so <br />that ~y necessa~ changes can ~ ~de ~fore the operation has progressed <br />too long. <br /> <br />The su~ey infor~tion will provide additional ~nefits in that it can be <br />used for Several other solid~ste 'projects ~ing Considered by the Cowry <br />at ~e l~dfill: redesi~ing the re~ining 30 acres of the landfill with a <br />liner system; preparin~ closure plans for the 40 acre piece of property <br />along the landfill eptrance~y ~at ~e cowry will ~ ac~iring; expanding <br />the existing l~dfill re.cling dro~off center; and. designing a recycling <br />processing center. ~e last to~graphlc su~ey of the landf~ll was <br />co~leted in 1985 ~d si~ific~t ch~ges in to~graphy have occurred since <br />that time due to the ongoing eart~ving activities. <br /> <br />If ~e CO~ty desires:to co~ence with ~y of the projects described above <br />soon after ~e next budget year ~gins, this survey infor~tion will be <br />needed i~ediately to start engineering work. Because aerial to.graphic <br />surveying can only ~ effectively Completed during the winter months when <br />the leaves are off ~e trees, it is rec~ended for these additional <br />reasons that this su~ey work ~ co~leted by ~e end of February. The <br />work probably could not ~ ~rformed again~til Nove~er, 1989. <br /> <br />~r pro~Sed lu_~ s~ fee to complete the topographic survey is $6,100. <br />This fee includes: retaining ~d contracting an aerial survey firm; the <br />cost of perfor~ngthe su~ey and providing the infor~tion on an Autocad <br />cbm~ter disk; refining and plotting a copy of the survey for delivery to <br />~e Co~ty; ~d One meeting'to review the results of the su~ey with Co~ty <br />staff.
