[iow <br /> your organization evaluates its programs and'or services, and your o~ganizafion*s <br /> policies and procedures for ensuring fiscal control and accountability. <br /> The Cabarrus County Parka and Recreation Department is dedicated to meeting the <br />various leisure needs of the citizens of Cabarrus County, The department arrives to meet <br />these needa in two major areaa: facilities and programs, Facilities are developed both <br />by the county and with other community organizations through a matching grants program. . <br />Programs are developed to meet the needa that are not being aerved by other l?cal agenciea'~ <br />public or private. Needa are identified through contact with various individ~ala and '. <br />groupa in the community, surveys, and recent trenda within the leisure aervice field <br />itaelf. 'The department has attempted to develop a well-balanced arts program for citizens <br />of all ages with both visual and performing arts. The staff of the department, along with <br />various part-time ataff, voluuteere~ andparticipanta~ meet to evaluate and upgrade rheas <br />aervices. All Cabarrua County agenciea are governed by the local governament fiscal control <br />act .~ . · <br /> <br /> 5. ' Community Involvement Please describe your organization's efforts to actively involve traditionally <br /> underserved audiences (racial and elh~ c .ninorlt,es. senior citizens, disabled <br /> persons, institutionalized persons, economically (~isadvanlegeU persons and <br /> geographically isolaled persons) in the (ollowing areas: b~a[d'and staff <br /> ! development, program development, audience development and <br /> I communications (publications. publicitl; etc.). <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County Parka and Recreation Department as a local government agency ~s an equal <br /> oppo~rtunity employer. Programs offered are open to anyone, regardlesa of race, ethnic <br /> background, or disability. Where possible individuals are utilized to assist with the <br /> planning and development Of programs, communicationa for the department are handled largely <br /> through the Special Programa Superviaor via fliers, posters, news articlea, etc. to the <br /> community at large. All youths aged 6-18 will be eligible for the Arts Camp program. Plans <br /> are ialso being made to involve senior citizens ae volunteera or instructors whenever <br /> feas. ible. <br /> <br /> ~ Cabarrus County Parka and Recreation Department has recognized a need to provide <br /> expoaure in the arts to more of Caba~rua Cou.nty Youth, alon~ with constructive learning <br /> programs during the aummer vacation. With rheas needs in mind, the [dea of the Aria <br /> Camps waa formed. In June of 1989, two one-week aeasione will be conducted. Week 1 <br /> will focua on performing arta such as puppetry, mime, juggling, dance, clowning, and drama. <br /> Week 2 will focu~ on visual arts such ae pottery, drawing, water-color and acrylic painting, <br /> and print-making. Theae campa will be offered to any youths area 6-18. Profeaaionals in <br /> many of theae areas will be brought in to provide instruction.
