Melton <br /> ~04-788-9899 Director <br /> <br /> PROCLAmaTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a disproportionate number of the more than 2 million North <br /> Carolinians age 45 and older are unemployed; and, <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, these middle-aged and older workers bring extensive experience <br /> end high job qualifications to the work force of the state and are staa~y, <br /> reliable workers; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal government and the State of North Carolina <br /> identify employment of.middle-aged and older workers as a priority in <br /> attaining maximum productivity of the labor force; and, <br /> <br /> ~IEREAS, in pursuing this goal, March 12-18, 1989, has been'designated <br /> as EMPLOY THE OLDER WORKER WEEK: <br /> <br /> As Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, I actively <br /> endorse this oppsrtunity to focus public attention on the problems of <br /> older workers, and, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W.
