Invitation to Bid <br /> for <br /> Food Services Contract <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County is formally requesting bids for private contractors to provide <br /> Bulk Caterin8 Services for Nutrition Pro,ram for the Elderly for the period <br /> .July 1__ 1989 to June 30, 1990, according to the specifications and provisions <br /> set forth herein and attached. Sealed bids will be received until 3:00 p.m. <br /> on April 5, 1989 at the Office of tile Cabarrus County Manager, Cabarrus <br /> County Courthouse, 77 Union Street, South, P. O. Box ?07, Concord, N. C. <br /> 28026-0707. Bids which are mailed should be sent to this address with the <br /> following designation marked on the sealed envelope: "Bid for Nutrition <br /> <br /> By: Cabarrus County Board of County Commissioners <br /> James W. Lents, Chairman <br /> Mike Ruff in, County Manager <br /> <br /> CONDITIONS <br /> <br /> Bids will be opened at 3:00 p.m.ou Wednesday, April 5, 1989 at the Commissioners <br /> Board Room, Cabarrns County Courthouse, 77 Union Street, South, Concord, N. C. <br /> <br /> The purpose of the Nutrition Program is to serve a nutritious meal to <br /> individuals aged sixty and older in strategically located conununity sites in <br /> Cabarrus County. Tbis bid will be for the twelve (12) month period of July 1, <br /> 1989 tbrougb June 30, 1990 for approximately 63,000 meals contingent on <br /> receipt of funds. Bids must be based on the Food Contract Specifications and <br /> Conditions as attached. <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County Board of County Commissioners will be the sole judge as to <br /> the acceptability of any alternative offer. Bids shall be awarded to the <br /> lowest respol~sible bidder taking into consideration capacity and quality and <br /> performauce. <br /> <br /> The County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. It fsrther <br /> reserves the right to waive formal£ties and technicalities iusofar as it is <br /> authorized so to do, where it deems it advisable in protection of the best <br /> interest of the county. <br /> <br />Bid Bond: Ail bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit. (Note carefully). <br />The bond amount should be computed to equal 5% of the Net Bid Price Per Meal <br />for a total of 63,000 meals. This deposit may take the form of cash. <br />certified check, cashiers check, or bond. The bond must be "executed by a <br />Corporate Surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such <br />bonds". (G.S. [43-129) The cash, cashiers check, or certified check may be <br />retained and deposited if the successful bidder fails to enter into proposed <br />contract. <br /> <br />The above bid deposit is required by State law and may not be modified. <br />Bidders should therefore comply with this requirement carefully and <br />specifically. If a bond is used, the Surety must be a Corporate Surety <br />authorized to do business in North Carolina. <br /> <br />Bank money order, uncertified check, telegraphic money orders, etc. are not <br />acceptable as bid deposits. <br /> <br />Bid deposits of unsuccessful bidders will be returned as soon as the contract <br /> <br /> <br />
