ISo Commercial Risk <br /> Services, Inc. is funded by the insurance companies for the <br /> purpose of determining fire protection classifications which <br /> are used to develop fire insurance rates for property owners. <br /> The rating is based on a scale of I to 10 with the rating of <br /> 1 being the best. Ratings are based on a number of factors <br /> including records, water supply, the risk to be protected and <br /> equipment used for protection. <br /> <br /> Prior to February 1, 1988 all Cabarrus County Volunteer Fire <br /> Departments held an insurance rating of 9. After much <br /> administrative work and upgrading of equipment the following <br /> fire departments were upgl-aded to: <br /> <br /> Allen Fire Department 5/9 <br /> Jackson Park Fire Department 5/9 <br /> Pitts Volunteer Fire Department 7/9 <br /> <br /> Effective March 1, 1988 the. following departments were <br /> upgraded' to: <br /> <br /> Coldwa~.er Fire Department 5/9 <br /> Flowes Store Fire De~ar~ment 7/9 <br /> Harrisburg Fire Department 7/9 <br /> (excluding Cabarrus Woods subdivision) <br /> Midland Fire Department 6)9 <br /> Mt. Pleasant Rural Fire Department 6/9 <br /> Poplar Tent Fire DSpartment 5/9 <br /> Winecoff Fire Department 5/9 <br /> <br /> This rating allows property owners within 1000 feet of the <br /> county or city hydrant system to receive the lower rating. <br /> Property ougside of the hydrant system will remain a class 9 <br /> district. <br /> <br /> <br />
