ISo Commercial Risk
Services, Inc. is funded by the insurance companies for the
purpose of determining fire protection classifications which
are used to develop fire insurance rates for property owners.
The rating is based on a scale of I to 10 with the rating of
1 being the best. Ratings are based on a number of factors
including records, water supply, the risk to be protected and
equipment used for protection.

Prior to February 1, 1988 all Cabarrus County Volunteer Fire
Departments held an insurance rating of 9. After much
administrative work and upgrading of equipment the following
fire departments were upgl-aded to:

Allen Fire Department 5/9
Jackson Park Fire Department 5/9
Pitts Volunteer Fire Department 7/9

Effective March 1, 1988 the. following departments were
upgraded' to:

Coldwa~.er Fire Department 5/9
Flowes Store Fire De~ar~ment 7/9
Harrisburg Fire Department 7/9
(excluding Cabarrus Woods subdivision)
Midland Fire Department 6)9
Mt. Pleasant Rural Fire Department 6/9
Poplar Tent Fire DSpartment 5/9
Winecoff Fire Department 5/9

This rating allows property owners within 1000 feet of the
county or city hydrant system to receive the lower rating.
Property ougside of the hydrant system will remain a class 9
district.
