37. Wall Siqn - Any sign directly attached to an <br />exterior wall of a building or dependent upon a building for <br />its support with its exposed face parallel or approximately <br />parallel to the plane of the building or structure on which <br />the sign is affixed. Signs directly painted on walls shall <br />be considered wall signs. <br /> <br /> 38~ Window Siqn - Any sign attached to or directly <br />applied onto a window or glass door of a building intended <br />tot viewing from the exterior of such building. <br /> <br />5.6-3 Application: <br /> <br /> All signs visible from the public right-of-way shall be <br />erected, maintained and operated in accordance with this <br />ordinance and shall be subject to its permitting <br />requirements. The following sign types, while subject to <br />the provisions of the ordinance, are not subject to the <br />permitting requirements of the ordinance, i.e., require no <br />sign permit. <br /> <br /> (t) Signs placed by the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation. <br /> <br /> (2) Incidental Signs. <br /> <br />(3) Non-illuminated signs not exceeding 2 per lot nor <br />2 square feet in area per sign of a non-commercial nature <br />and bearing only property identification numbers and names, <br />post office box numbers and names of occupants of the <br />premises. <br /> <br /> (4) Flags and insignia and signs of any government <br />when displayed in connection with a non-commercial activ ry. <br />One flag of the United States (not to exceed 6' x 10)' <br />displayed in connection with a commercial activity. <br /> <br /> (53 Legal notices, identification and informations <br />signs and trsff ic directional signs erected by or on behalf <br />of a governmental body. <br /> <br /> (6) Integral decorative or architectural features of <br />buildings, except letters, trademarks, moving parts or <br />moving lights. <br /> <br /> (7) On-site signs directing and guiding traffic on <br />private property, not exceeding 4 square feet each, and <br />bearing no advertising matter. ExamPles are "Enter", <br />"Exit", etc. <br /> <br /> (8) Subdivision sale sign~, not exceeding 32 square <br />feet in area and limited to 2 single-faced signs or 1 <br />double-faced sign at each point of ingress/egress, giving <br />the name of residential subdivisions, multiple family <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
