WHEREAS, the Carolinas Counties Coalition determined at its general meeting ia March, <br /> 1988 and reiterated at its quarlerly meeting in January, 1989 thai a compelling <br /> regional issue was transportation planning; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Coalition duly appointed a Transpor~atlon Task Force for the purpose of <br /> developing an organizational format for a regional transportation plann, ing entily; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Transporlalion Task Force executed lhis charge with a series of meetings <br /> o~er a six month time period; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this charge was executed by developing through consensus a mission <br /> statemenl, goals statements, suggested ilems to be considered for a work program, <br /> an organizational framework, a funding process, a proposed host institution, and a <br /> transition process, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these various recommendalions have been provided by means of a wrilten <br /> report and an oral presentation to all members of the Carolinas Counties Coalition; <br /> and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Transporlation Task Force has also presented the recommendations to <br /> three U.S. Congressmen whose jurisdictions include counties within the region, to <br /> members of Ihe respective highway boards who live in the region, and to members <br /> of lhe respective state departments of Iranspnrtalion. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that _County on _approves <br /> lhe recommendations of the Transportation Task Force and agrees to become an aclive <br /> member of the Carolinas Transportation Compact with all duties and obligations attached <br /> thereto.
