Hedt, Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman <br /> <br /> DATE: January 29, 1988 <br /> <br /> RE: Annual Reports, Nursing and Domiciliary Home Community Advisory <br /> Committees <br /> <br /> Attached are the annual reports of the Nursing and Domiciliary Home Community <br /> Advisory Committees (NIICAC, DtlCAC) serving your county. These committees are the <br /> foundation of the Regional Ombudsman Program in that they have legislative authority <br /> to monitor residents' rights, promote community involvement in facilities, provide pBblic <br /> education and resolve grievances. <br /> <br /> During tile last reporting year, the 120 citizen advocates in Centraliaa's eight county <br /> region vohmteered approximately 10,000 hours cf time. Committees handled 351 <br /> grievances from 188 different individuals. All nursing homes and homes for the aged <br /> (rest homes) were visited quarterly and family care homes and homes for <br /> developmentally disabled adults were visiJ~ed annually. <br /> <br /> In Cabarrus County, the NHCAC served 4 nursing homes and tile DHCAC served 5 <br /> homes for the aged, 5 fLlmily care home and 3 homes for developmentally disabled <br /> adults. Tile Department of Social Services provided local back-up support to this <br /> program.
