Stanford County Extension Director Cabarrus Co. Agricultural Extension Service Dear Al: The Cabarrus County 4-1! Exchange Committee met on Tuesday night, .February 23, in the Extension Learning Center. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans for the upcoming Kentucky 4-H Exchange Trip which will be conducted the first week in July 1988. You will remember that it was this group that asked for permission to bold a barbecue and yard sale at the Extension Office in 1987 which precipitated the involvement of the County Manager and Couety Attorney before the group was finally told they would be unable to hold these 4-H events at tile County Agricultural Center. Members of tile Exchange Committee were also present when you met with the 4-t! leadership on February 10 concerning their plans for the future of the Cabarrus 4-H Program. They again raised tile question as to wily we were not allowed to hold 4-!! events in the County Agricultural Center which houses the 4-1! O~[ice. This committee is again looking in to fnndraising opportunities which will enable our young people to earn the money necessary for their participation in the 1988 4-tl Exchange Program. The group voted to fly to Kentucky~ and I feel that it is important to give tile young people every opportunity to earn the money necessary to enable them to partici- pate in such a worthwhile 4-ti learning expeyience. The committee asked me to contact yon conceruing the status of fundraising events being held in the County Agricultural Center. Specifically, tile group is looking in to tile feasibility of a yard sale, a car wash, or a barbecue dinner and feel that the County Agricultural Center would be an excellent central location to conduct these activities.
