February 2d, 1988

77 UnioP. Street Sc'ut~~.

We, the undersigned residents OF Cedarbrook Acres Subdivision
of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, are writing this letter
to ask for your help in getting tile one througb road of
our subdivision paved. This through road is 9/10 of a mile
in length. Eveu though it is ol)e road, it has three names:
Guildbrook Road, Sandburg Road and Regent Drive. It shall
be referred to in this letter as Guildbrook Road.

Guildbrook Road is nothinc~ hut a dirt road which becomes
a mud road when it rains. It is a state maintained road
which is not maintained properly. After we call out the
North Carolina State Highway Department to work on the
road, it ends up in worse shape than before they started.
They sparsley spread INFERIOR quality gravel ill the places
where the road gets washed out. Over the past year, we
all have had numerous flat tires due to the gravel. The
gravel punctures the tires and damages them beyond repair
and then they must be replaced with brand new tires. We
feel that the State of North Caroli!]a is fiuanclalty re-
sponsible for the cost of our new tires. Also, 2 of the 3
school buses that use Guildbrook Road have had 3 flat tires
since November 1987. Not to mention that one of the s~ho~l
buses has been stuck several times on Guildbrook Road and
must wait for the tow truck from the bus garage to tow it
out. This is a definite threat to the safety of the 58
elementary school students ou board the bus.

If this road had been paved long aqo, tile State oF North

pnsh the mud around is definitely more tbaa tho cost of
pavin_g Guildbrook Road.

As registered voters of Cabarrns County, North Carolina,
this is a major concern to us ill this election year. We
are tired of tile strain put upon tis by attempting to cope
with the deplorable condition of GuJldbrook Road. This
