Highway 73 Relocation and <br /> Coddle Creek Dam <br /> Cabarrus County,~ North Carolina <br /> Law Proposal No. 267S8A <br /> <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> <br /> Law Engineering is pleased to submit this proposal to conduct a supplemental <br /> geotechnical exploration for the subject project. Included in this proposal is <br /> an outline of our understanding of the project information, proposed scope of <br /> services, fee estimate and schedule. <br /> <br /> Law Engineering conducted a geotechnical exploration (Job No. CH 6114) for <br /> the highway relocation with report dated March 3, 1988 and embankment dam with <br /> report dated April 6,-1988. <br /> <br /> Project Information <br /> <br /> The Coddle Creek dam site is located approximately 700 ft north of where <br />N.C. Highway 73 crosses Coddle Creek in western Cabarrus County, North Carolina. <br />The proposed dam will be an earth embankment about 2800 Ct long with a crest <br />elevation of 660 feet. An emergency spillway is planned around the east <br />abutment and a principal spillway is planned to be incorporated into the <br />embankment on Uhe east abutment. The principal spillway is planned to be <br />constructed of roller compacted concrete. <br /> <br /> The full pond water level behind the proposed Coddle Creek Dam will be 645 <br />ft (future 650 fi) and will require relocation of approximately 3400 ft 1 ength <br />of existing N. C. Highway 73. The highway will be relocated as much as 200 £t <br />south of the existing alignment. The new alignment would require estimated cut <br />and fill depths of up to 20 and 40 it, respectively. The roadway will require <br />off-site borrow that may be available from the proposed spillway excavation for <br />Coddle Creek dam. <br /> <br /> I~O ROX 11~7 <br /> CHARLOTTE.
