E. <br /> Project Manager <br /> <br /> Subject: Proposal for Laboratory Testing <br /> Roller Compacted Concrete Trial Mix <br /> Coddle Creek Dam <br /> Caberrus County, North Carolina <br /> Law Proposal No. 132M8 <br /> <br /> Oentlemea: <br /> <br /> Law Engineering is pleased to submit this proposal for providing laboratory <br /> testing of a trial mix for roller compacted concrete for the subject project. <br /> Included in this proposal is an outline of our understanding of the project <br /> information, proposed scope of services, fee estimate and schedule. <br /> <br /> Law Engineerin~ has conducted geotechnical explorations for the proposed <br /> Coddle Creek Dam and relocation of m portion of N. C. Highway 73. <br /> <br />~ro~ect Information <br /> <br /> The Coddle Creek Dam site is located approximately 700 Ct north of where <br />N.C. Highway 73 crosses Coddle Creek in western CabarrusCounty, North Carolina. <br />The proposed dam will be an earth embankment about 2800 Ct long with a crest <br />elevation of 660 feet. A 500 ft wide spillway is planned around the east <br />abutment and a 225 Ct wide principal spillway is planned to be incorporated into <br />the embankment on the easb abutment together with a 300 ft wide secondary <br />spillway to be constructed of roller compected concrete (RFC). <br /> <br /> Our understanding o£ the above information has been obtained from <br />conversations and correspondence with HDR. <br /> <br />Proposed Scope of Services <br /> <br /> As requested in a telecopied transmittal dated June 10, 1988, from Mr. 0ary <br />Lake of HDR, Law Engineering proposes to conduct a laboratory trial mix for <br />roller compacted concrete to be used in the principal spillway.of the proposed <br />dam. We propose to explore five local aggregate sources; HDR prefers pit run <br />materials.
