In <br /> essence, co~tttee me~bers are advocates and resources for those who must <br /> live in a facility. <br /> <br /> As Reelonal Lons Term Care Ombudsman, I provide training and on soin8 assis- <br /> tance to the co~mittees, analyze and address issues affectin8 residents, and <br /> respond to requests for information. A local alency provides back up support <br /> vithin the county. The O~buds~an publishes a newsletter on long term care <br /> ~opics and has developed listings of all facilities for each county. However, <br /> the co~mittees are the backbone of the O~buds~an Program. These citizen advo- <br /> cates volunteer between eight and twenty hours monthly. <br /> <br /> In the twelve month period from October 1, 1985 throush October 31, 1986 <br /> (the most current data available) the O~budsman Pro8ram conducted 322 committee <br /> visits of facilities and received 279 complaints from 143 persons in the Reelon. <br /> One hundred eithty (180) of these ~rievances were investiented by the Ombudsman <br /> Proera~; the r~=tnder were referred to other aeencies for action. <br /> <br /> Attached are lists of committee members nnd facilities. Your efforts to appoint <br /> interested and qualified members are appreciated.
