The EMS Advisory Board <br /> will have the final authority as to whether or not the <br /> certification of the first responder agency or individual <br /> first responder will be revoked or suspended. <br /> <br /> 4. Upon termination, revocation, or suspension of a <br /> certificate to operate as a first responder agency or <br /> individual, as hereunder determined, the f Irst responder <br /> agency or individual shall immediately cease to operate. <br /> <br /> 5. If membership drops below that specified in Section &. I, <br /> the First Responder unit has 120 days to get back to <br /> strength. If not, the Advisory Board will suspend the <br /> certification until the number is back to minimum. <br /> <br />SECTION 5: Standards for First Responder Agencies and First <br /> Responder Members. <br /> <br /> I. Each first responder agency and Its first responder <br /> members shall at all times comply with the requirements <br /> of these guidelines, the oerti flcation granted <br /> hereunder, and all applicable state and local laws <br /> relating to health, sanitation, safety and all uther laws <br /> and ordinances, including the N.C. Motor Vehicle laws <br /> when its members are respondi.ng to an emergency scene. <br /> <br /> 2. To be certified and maintain certification, a first <br /> responder individual must: <br /> <br /> A. Se of suitable character, not addicted to the use or <br /> abuse of drugs of alcohol. <br /> B.Be at least eighteen (18) years of age. <br /> C. Have a valid N.C. driver's license and a good <br /> driving record as determined by the Chief or his <br /> designee. <br /> D. Be requj red to show evidence of successful <br /> completion of a basic first responder training <br /> course of at least 40 hours as described in Section <br /> 12 of this document. The final written and practical <br /> exam must be passed with a score of 70%. <br /> E. Be required to show evidence of continuing education <br /> of at least 12 hours per year in emergency medical <br /> service related courses. . <br /> F. Current certification in Cardlopulmonary <br /> Resuscitation by the American Red Cross or the <br /> American Heart Association. <br /> G. Recerttftc&tion: Be required to ~ho~ evidence of <br /> attendance and successful completion of specified <br /> continuing education courses (including annual CPA <br /> certification) approved by the Cabarrus County <br /> Office of Emergency Services and demonstrate skill <br /> <br /> 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
